Good morning all! I can't believe it's the weekend before Christmas. I was catching a cold before I went in to the hospital and now it's here full force. It's more in my chest than anything, but it's very nagging and I wasn't able to sleep well last night due to the cough. I'm going to send DH out today to find me some good stuff, since I can't drive out and get it myself.

Not much planned for today. I'm watching White Christmas right now and I hope to watch specials & movies I haven't got to watch yet. I think we'll try and do the gingerbread houses today too.

This evening, our relatives from Pittsburgh are coming in to town. Their son is going to be playing hockey at our local rink, so if I'm feeling up to it, we'll go to the game and out to dinner with them.

I hope you all enjoy the day and have safe travels. Jesus is the Reason!

I felt the same way yesterday. Counting down the hours at the office and finishing up the last bit of work this year while listening to Christmas music.. such a nice feeling!
I had a couple Christmas moments at the office on Thursday. My supervisor, who usually gives me tea for Christmas, gave me this year a vintage one-sheet poster from one of Gloria's movies---since we lost Gloria this year, that was very thoughtful of her. Another co-worker, whom I barely know to talk to, heard me talking with someone about losing the family's Shiny Brite ornaments that my dad had taken to Florida with him when he remarried. (His stepdaughter threw out all his stuff and embezzled his estate when he passed and she became executor.) This co-worker gave me a box of Christopher Radko Shiny Brite reproductions---I was very touched. They will find a place on my tree next year to remind me of her kindness.

That’s a really cool story MerryCarey. Those acts of kindness go a long way in both soothing our souls and spurring us to be loving and caring to one another.

Those moments of kindness make me believe there's some Christmas in everyone's heart. I have other ornaments on my tree that remind me of kind people I've known, so I always get emotional when I decorate the tree. It's so special to dress the tree with those memories of kindness.

Good Morning, Final Weekenders!
And 'tis true, 'tis true.
We have commenced the VERY LAST weekend before Christmas day!

Our count (or what there is left of it):
Days to Christmas Day: 3
Now UNDER HALF A WEEK LEFT!
(Wow, Guys!)

Nice and warm yesterday (65 for the high) but quite windy. Leaves and pine needles down everywhere! No rain, though.
Then, in the evening, it rapidly got colder and we are waking up to 45 degrees here this morning. Should be sunny but cool today and tomorrow.

Have a Sensational Saturday, Folks.
Enjoy this last weekend to the fullest!

Good Morning, MMC!!! 3 days to Christmas? What?? This season has just flown by!! Today is mom’s birthday so we will be celebrating it. I hope to squeeze in some cookie making too. I hope everyone has a great day!!!

Enjoy the time with your brother!
It’s wonderful to read that your father and family are keeping the Christmas spirit alive. And it’s so kind of you to bring treats to people who help make a difference in your community as well as helping out a colleague in need. Your mom would be proud indeed.

Auntie, you know how to LIVE the spirit of Christmas. More power to you!

Enjoy the time with your brother!

Visit with my brother and his new girlfriend went well and my dad had the tree up and not only the mantel decorated, but he also put a string of lights and a few festive pieces including a photo of my brothers and I hanging our stockings from when we were little displayed on the buffet in the dining room.

My merry giveaways have been well received, a few chose to save them to open until Christmas morning, but some already passed them along and a few posted messages from their children to wish me a Merry Christmas. Living up to the name AuntieDear; the Mistletoe part the children don't know about, but the adults get a kick out of it. I'm not as "touchy-feely" as I seem.

Finished my shopping and special deliveries today. Attached to the card for the Across the Creek Neighbours, I added a an icicle snowman ornament.

My brother and the chauffeur to the stars arrive tomorrow and head back Christmas Day.

I'm considering going to visit the boys and grands on Boxing Day, but my husband isn't sure he is up to the trip and it all depends on weather, but as of now it looks like it will be fine for driving.

Good morning all!

Christmas break has begun. My son is home from the Army. Yesterday evening so a lot of fun talking to him about Army stuff. Comparing the experiences to when I was in and discussing what has changed. The other thing that was interesting is the realization that he is an adult! He was still 17 when he left for Basic training.

Tonight is cookie baking night. Lots of cookies! Tomorrow we will take boxes of cookies to the post office, police department, fire department, and a couple of local businesses. We have done that for years now and it is one of my absolute favorite Christmas traditions. Henry loves it too; he is the one who actually presents the cookies at each place.

Everyone have a wonderful day.

I dropped my goodies off, I don't give them baking - I guess I worry too much about people worrying too much so I just give boxed chocolates and Christmas cookies in a tin, but I must add those postal workers for tomorrow when I pick up a few more cards from my merry chums; they've really stepped up to try and get everything delivered on time after the brief strike.

Glad to hear you had a great time and everything is coming along nicely!

My cousin went back to the hospital last night. The original thinking was that he had sepsis but it is actually a bad case of bronchitis. He has to stay home from work until Wednesday so that means he wont haveto work on Christmas or Christmas Eve.
My other cousin announced last week that she is now engaged to a guy she met on World of Warcraft. They speak everyday through facetime. He lives in Canada and is coming down in February to meet her. They plan to get married during the time he is here. I am not sure what their plan is after they get married. My aunt is pretty upset about it but cant convince my cousin this isnt the best idea. She is 23 and sort of does what she pleases. My aunts only hope is that if the marriage doesnt work out she will come home. Please pray we can get thru this trying time

A co-worker of mine is meeting her on-line romance man tomorrow. The difference is they live in the same Province so it's not like worrying about crossing the border and so forth.

A cousin of mine met her husband through a dating website eons ago and it worked out well for them.

Hope it works out or they change their names before exchanging vows.

It's ok, @sugar142286. As I was recalling my first Darlene Love night, that memory of calling my parents house hit me like a ton of bricks. We are gonna be alright.

Yesterday, I found myself back at our local year 'round Christmas Store; looking for something for dads neighbour. I saw an adorable mouse figurine so festive - and I said, "Mom would love that"; can't give it to her now, but I smiled 'cause it gave me another moment to think of her.

When I was chatting with my dad earlier in the week before my brother arrived, I mentioned the gifts to co-workers children that I was passing along; we chatted about mom and how she always had Christmas Beanies alternating steps running up to the top floor for children of guests to choose from on Christmas Eve. He loosed the lump in his throat and we continued our conversation.

We live in a fairly small town and know many of the folks at the various departments.

Our post office is pretty good, but I was a little sad today when we went in. There is a guy that has been there every year when we drop the cookies off and he is super nice and appreciative, but he was not there today. The lady who was there was nice too though.

We have to drop one more box off on Christmas Eve to our car repair shop. They are closed in weekends.

Good Morning All!

Today begins Christmas activities for the family. Tonight we are having Christmas with my mom. Tomorrow is Christmas with my wife's parents, sister (husband and kids).

At some point I really need to start wrapping! Lots of presents to wrap and I have not yet started.

Took me 6 hours to wrap last weekend. I only have a few left to go. Oddest thing, the cat didn't offer to help this year. Thought something was wrong with him, but I think it's because I took over his room this year and he hasn't been sleeping on that bed for a few months. I had so many things piled up in there that I thought I would be wrapping for days.
It's fun when you can have more than one special Christmas exchange; enjoy.
