Well, apologies for my absence, but I’m back this week after a nice Bers-kickoff vacation.
As promised, I started Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia on JOL Day, and I’m really enjoying it so far. I also started thinking about which games I’d be playing for the last two JOL Days of the year, and it also gave me an idea of what I’d start doing for next year’s JOL Days.
My Castlevania schedule for the rest of the year’s JOL Days is as follows:
September 30: Castlevania Bloodlines
October 31: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Bloodlines was the first (and only) Castlevania game to make the jump to Sega’s Genesis console back in the 90s, and it’s the direct prequel to Portrait of Ruin. I originally missed this one when it first debuted (I was a Nintendo kid and never owned a Genesis), so I’m excited to go back and finally experience this one.
And for Halloween, I had to pick Symphony of the Night. Considered by many to be the best Castlevania game ever made, it influenced all the other Castlevanias that came after it. I’ve played through this one multiple times and it’s a blast every time. Very fitting to close out Spooky Season with this one.
I’ll talk about what I’ll be doing for next year’s JOL Days when we get closer to Halloween.
