It is always kind of sad to see one final count remaining in this thread, but on the other hand it is the culmination of what we’ve waited for all year. Knowing the “big night” is imminent and especially what follows after the “big night” keeps me from having the same kind of bummed out feelings that I have on Christmas afternoon. Ugh, I don’t want to go there yet. Change of subject…

We’re going to a Fall Festival this year! Probably our first “real” one, although if it’s still here in Texas, does it count as a “real” one? I just hope the weather cooperates. The temps are dropping, albeit slowly, and our highs here are still in the mid-80s. I’m hoping for a cool front to push us into the 60s by the time Halloween gets here.

I don't like the single count either. In my mind I always think back to what the counts looked like back in August when The Bers were imminent and we had full counts.

Obviously we can't reach our destination with the counts staying the way they are and not moving. What keeps me engaged now is thinking, small thoughts at a time, about "next year's" thread and what I want to try and do differently. There's a whole long time to worry about that between now and then!

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 25

Good Morning Pumpkin People!

Monday is in the rear view mirror now and we move forward another day in this week. The ultimate goal? The weekend of course and the added bonus of it being a 3 day weekend.

If the rain holds off this weekend we plan to take the kids to Hill High Farm this weekend to do the pumpkin patch and some other things.

I think I'm in the very final weeks of mowing here. The grass has made a major change in the last two weeks I think in part due to the colder weather. It is still getting tall, but it has no body / volume, unlike the heavy thick grass that we dealt with all summer. I'm always sad to see mowing season "end", but it's a nice break at the end of the year, and gives me a chance to address anything maintenance wise (sharpen blades, oil changes, etc.). I got in that habit from my Grandfather, who would always do all that when mowing was over, that way all he had to do was hop on in the Spring when mowing season returned.

Friends I hope you are well today, have a wonderful Tuesday!

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 24

Happy Wednesday, Pumpkin People! Closing in now on the THREE WEEKS TO HALLOWEEN mark!

It's 43 degrees outside right now, and I think last night we felt the first cold "bite" of Autumn. The house is borderline chilly this morning. We have a couple of days where it gets back up in the 70's, and stays warm overnight, but I do believe that by the middle of next week we will be burning the heat a little overnight. The daytime high on a few days is only 60, not enough to really warm the house.

I checked this thread from last year, I think it was around October 20th that we used heat for the first time, so we're not far off there.

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday! We can see signs of the long weekend rolling in!

Hello Halloween Fans! I hope you are doing well. It's beautiful outside but chilly. Woke up to temps in the low 40s. And they didn't turn the heat on at work. They're trying to turn it on today. I hope they do. I'm cold. Happy Halloween!

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 23

Good Morning Halloween Friends! Happy Mini Friday! The long 3 day weekend is almost here!

I've got this evening and Friday to get the mowing done here. The whole weekend looks rained out from Hurricane Isaias, we might see two inches or more of rain. It actually might be one of the last times we mow the grass here because of how low the temperatures get starting next week. So we'll see on that.

Even though it is a nice break from mowing, I always hate the "last" mow of the year. I don't like thinking about the long time between the end of mowing season and the start of another.

I hope everyone is well today, and has a great day!

Can't believe we are still decorating for Halloween. It has rained so much over the past few weeks it's been ridiculous. We have been working on it a little at a time in the evenings after work this week. Hoping to have it all done by this weekend as DH and I are going to Cooperstown NY next week for a few days for our anniversary and then we are doing an extended family dinner for our daughter's birthday.

Hello Halloween Fans! I hope you are doing well. It's a beautiful autumn day out. I love this time of year. Oh obviously it's October my favorite month and I love being in this thread all year long to build to it. Happy Halloween!

"Glows in the dark" Hopefully, the can & not the chips.

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 22

Good Morning, Friday Friends and Pumpkin People alike!

Our 3 day weekend is finally in front of us. And it's a big weekend because Abigale is turning 4 years old! Wrapping presents tonight is going to invoke lots of Christmas feels!

We're going to be THREE WEEKS away from Halloween TOMORROW! Still lots of October to enjoy folks. We have a rainy weekend coming up so as long as I can get my back yard mowed tonight, I will be okay.

I hope you all have a great day!

Hello Halloween Fans! I hope you are doing well. It's a beautiful October day here. Lots of sunshine and temps will warm up to 70 degrees. Can't really ask for much better than that in October. One of those gems. Happy Halloween!

THREE WEEKS TO HALLOWEEN!

Good Morning Pumpkin People! Three weeks are all that stands in our way of Halloween.

It's Abigale's Birthday weekend, and I am just as excited as her to see her open her presents. She has asked me relentlessly about "Mario Kart World", and I have it here safe and sound for her to open up.

There's a chance of rain all day today, so as soon as it gets a little warmer outside, I'm going to try and mow the back yard, and that might be one of the last times I mow this season.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Hello Halloween Fans! I hope you are doing well. It's a really nice day here. Warm and some partial sunshine. Just beautiful autumn weather. Unfortunately they predict the 5th straight Sunday of rain tomorrow. Happy Halloween!

DAYS TO HALLOWEEN: 20

Good Morning Pumpkin People! We are smack dab in the middle of what is left of Hurricane Isaias. It's rained 1.25 inches since midnight, and it is pounding rain out there now. When it's all said and done here, we might be close to 3 inches.

I got the back yard mowing finished yesterday just as the rain started.

My sweet Abigale is 4 years old today. I still remember every detail from our hospital stay. I think sometimes, things just get burned into your brain, for better or worse. I can't wait for her to wake up and get to open presents, it almost feels like Christmas morning. Her Mom and I have a pile of presents for her to open up, we carefully selected things over the past couple of months.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Hello Halloween Fans! I had a good convo with SS (our Halloween Leader) yesterday and look forward to everything he has planned going forward. But as he said we're in the thick of it right now and for the next 3 weeks this is what we wait all year for. Happy Halloween!

Hello Halloween Fans!

Well, today has been a wonderful Fall today.
First, it is cool and cloudy and in the lower 60s; a few raindrops here and there. In other words, a wonderful Fall day.

My son and I went to breakfast this morning and then went to a local Farm and picked out 6 pie pumpkins. Those pumpkins will be used for breads and pies from now through Christmas.
We also picked up some brats and burgers to grill at some point. We also found a granny smith apple cider!

When I came home I started working on a big pot of chili and got it cooking. After that I cut a pumpkin and started baking it in the oven so it can become pumpkin bread later today. I also started laundry (not so Fall like. lol)

I have done all of that and I am now ready to sit down and watch the Browns play the Jets.

I love chili and pumpkin bread on a nice Fall day!

Too bad tomorrow and Tuesday are going to be 80 degrees, but I am not going to let that bother me today!

Everyone have a great Sunday!

Thanks Edge. You are considered the threads expert around these parts, I am excited to see what happens with the "new" thread when it goes up, especially since I am doing something I've never done before in here, so I am excited. And I appreciate all your feedback!
