• Operation Christmas Cheer
We normally decorate the whole house, inside and out, for Thanksgiving. A lot of the decorations are shared with Fall decorations, but we do have a lot of Thanksgiving-only decorations also. But this year, since we'll be traveling for Christmas, Michelle wants to put up Christmas decorations on November 1st. I can't say that I'm too upset about that. We did the same thing last year due to my back surgery. The outside of the house will still get decorated for Thanksgiving though. I'm not jumping ahead on that one.

Besides all our decorating, Thanksgiving is pretty much a laid-back kind of holiday. There's just a lot of cooking that morning.

I am another outlier here, I do decorate for Thanksgiving. I leave my autumn stuff up and add Halloween, take Halloween down and put up Thanksgiving.
Same here, I keep Fall stuff up throughout September-November, I put Halloween up end of Sept/early October and take it down the weekend after Halloween and put of Thanksgiving decor that same weekend.

This year I hope to be setting a more formal tablescape so that may be the headline for my T-giving prep!

I have this tradition, I try to make this beautiful Thanksgiving table, and it looks so nice. Then we start bringing out food and we have to move the decor to have room for it. It never changes, I do the same thing every year. I never learn, but I guess hope springs eternal!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 41
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 19

Happy October Teens! Today folks we have 41 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 19 days to go until November. Our next milestone will not be THIS weekend but NEXT weekend when on Sunday (a week from Sunday that is) we’ll reach the Home Stretch till November. We move along in our Awesome Autumn and begin our quiet 3-day weekend period now. Ahh, yes part 1 of our quiet 3-day weekend period. I’m actually off Monday so I’ll have my own version of a 3-day weekend. I hope you enjoyed all of our topics Monday through Thursday style. And that you are ready for Friday now. After a long week Fridays always save the day. And maybe soon you’ll hear some turkey chatter. Ok, not yet. Nobody is talking about Thanksgiving in October outside of this website and especially this thread. We all know this is Halloween’s time to shine. And we certainly want it to. Many of us love Halloween too. It’s nice how the big 3 all get a whole month each to enjoy. I think that’s really awesome. Anyway turkey fans I wish you well on this Friday and that you have a great time with your family and friends after a long work week. Keep it real and be back here throughout the weekend to sit back and relax. Have a great October Teens!

My sister sent me pictures last night of a pamphlet she picked up at a local grocery store that offers Thanksgiving meals. They don't have it posted on their website yet, but this is a sure sign of Thanksgiving, and even though I plan on cooking my own Thursday meal this year, I still like to see the offerings! Turkey meals have jumped up, but the ham dinner is still the same as last year's prices. I don't think the pics will be easy to read but I just to have to share!

Wow!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 40
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 18

Happy October Weekend! Today folks we have 40 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 18 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be next Sunday (not tomorrow). It will be the Home Stretch till November. But folks we move along in our Awesome Autumn and are enjoying this time of year very much. And we move ahead in our 3-day weekend with our favorite day of those 3 (Saturday). Lots of build to go with turkey time ahead of us but still comfortably in October so no rushing towards that month ahead. Just enjoying this weekend as I hope all of you get to as well. And make the most of this very spooky and fun October weekend. It should be a grand time for sure. I hope you all enjoy your time and enjoy where we are right now. We are in a truly great spot. I love this time of year. Still nice afternoons and comfortably cool mornings. I’m holding on to that as long as I can (hopefully all the way up until Thanksgiving). I always tell people from St. Patrick’s Day till Thanksgiving the weather is normally not horrible (i.e. no big snowstorms or bitter cold). I’m hoping all of us turkeys won’t be sweating or freezing this Thanksgiving. Let’s hope for a nice one like last year (it was low 50s here last year with sunshine). Have a great October Weekend!

The recent cold/rain snap we have been experiencing here has had me hoping that Halloween and Thanksgiving can be clear and dry, or at least one of them.

I'm hoping for some dry weather over the next few weeks! I want to get my driveway sealed before winter. I have all of the supplies, it's just finding a day where it is good and dry for 24 hours, and above 55 degrees for at least half of the day. Right now that is looking like it's going to be either next Saturday or Sunday. We should have days like that at least in the mid 50's for a couple of more weeks. If we don't get nice dry / warmish weather before November, I am going to have to wait until Spring. I sealed it in 2020 and I believe it was either at the very end of September or the beginning of October.

I don't really want to do any outside projects like that in November. November it gets cold here and it's time to think turkey thoughts and do fun things like hang up Christmas lights and decorate.

Have a great day!

I'm really curious how the weather will turn out for Thanksgiving this year.
