DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 6

Happy Turkey TGIF! Today folks we move along and see that we have 6 days remaining until Thanksgiving. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our destination arriving on Thursday with Thanksgiving of course. It’s Friday folks so time for our Fun Fact Friday below (the final one ever in this thread)!

Corn, beans, and squash were known as the “three sisters” by Native American groups and were mainstays at early Thanksgivings.

I have never been a big fan of beans or squash, but I do like corn. I figured that was one of the mainstays but didn’t realize squash was to be honest. I could see beans being there too. But squash out of the 3 surprises me the most. The final Fun Fact Friday of the thread. Don’t worry, Fun Fact Fridays are renewed for the new thread. It seems like some think it would be cool to move the weekly countdown to Thanksgiving to Thursdays, and I think that’s happening. Mondays I think the idea some were giving of recipes made me think of YouTube (which can include anything from recipes to videos of cutting a turkey, or a fun Thanksgiving show, past Macy’s parades etc.). With YouTube we’ll never run out of fun stuff we can find. Have a great Turkey TGIF!

We were at the store last night and I made a pass by the turkey freezers. They had 2 huge Butterballs that were quite tormented looking. They looked like they had got flattened. I checked for no ripped packaging because they were priced at 7.00 each. I decided to buy them and use 1 for making turkey stock this weekend and use the other to just put on the smoker come mid winter...ughh (its on its way)

Here we go!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 5

Happy Weekend Before Thanksgiving! Today folks we move along and see that we have 5 days remaining until Thanksgiving. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our final destination arriving on Thursday. It will be Thanksgiving. Did I really have to say that? It’s Saturday folks so time for the first half of our Quiet Weekend Period. I’m really excited for this one as we will be around home base today. I’ll be doing lots of stuff like my laundry but also preparing for Thanksgiving. The turkey will be taken out to defrost and some sides we still need will be on my food shopping list. It’s going to be very exciting this weekend friends. The Sunday Group will head to the Christmas Shops, which will be extra special for our annual trip to them. I think everyone is just so happy right now being on the verge of the holiday season. I know the Christmas Season technically started November 13th, but most people really get fully into it this coming week. But people like us (and Coach) really get into it this weekend. I hope you are all doing well my turkey friends. The best to you all and I hope you enjoy your day as much as you can. Prepare yourself for everything to come. Enjoy it. It’s time for a special weekend. Have a great Weekend Before Thanksgiving!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 4

Happy Solid Sunday! Today folks we move along and see that we have 4 days remaining until Thanksgiving. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our final destination arriving on Thursday. It will be Thanksgiving. Enough said. We know where we are going now, my friends. It’s going to be an amazing ride. We are on the cusp of being in OUR week. We talk about the week all year. It’s Sunday folks so time for the 2nd half of our Quiet Weekend Period. I’ve decided that we will make that switch for the new thread, in case you were wondering. Thursdays will be Countdown Day (Weeks till Thanksgiving). Mondays will change to “YouTube Day.” We’ll find a video of anything Thanksgiving related from a Thanksgiving cartoon, video of someone cutting a turkey, old Macy’s parade, etc. etc. Whatever we can find will be a fun link to start off Mondays. I think that will be a great addition and a fun switch on Thursdays. I don’t want to touch Picture Day, Poll Day or Fun Fact Day. It’s been fun though, doing what we’ve done here in this thread over the years. It really has evolved thanks to everyone who has contributed to it like many of you have. Turkey friends enjoy your Sunday. It’s coming. Tomorrow. Have a great Solid Sunday!

I'm taking out the turducken and ham tonight. The turkey breast can wait until Tuesday morning. Tomorrow, I'll pick up the potatoes and a few scratch offs for guests. Then I can make the cranberry sauce. Tuesday and Wednesday will be a huge prep day. I'll get the tables set on Wednesday.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 3

Happy Thanksgiving Week! Today folks we move along and see that we have 3 days remaining until Thanksgiving. We move along in the final few days of our Awesome Autumn (that is sad) with our final destination arriving on Thursday. It will be the one and only Thanksgiving. It’s Monday folks so for the final time we’ll count down the weeks till Thanksgiving Week. It’s 0. We’re here. We arrived. Just to clarify going forward as I’ve mentioned we decided to make 2 changes for the new thread coming on Thursday. Monday will now be YouTube Day. I’ll be posting every week anything from YouTube Thanksgiving related. I hope to make it a real wide range of stuff from cooking recipes to funny videos, to how to prepare a turkey, to Thanksgiving shows to old Macy’s Parade clips. Lots of variety expected to move in thanks to the world of YouTube which has pretty much everything you can think of and more. Thursdays will be the Weekly Countdown till Thanksgiving Week. With it I will include a little comment in honor of what we used to call Thanksgiving Thought Thursday. I felt that was something we always talk about our Thanksgiving Thoughts, so I felt the need to really mix it up and switch up those 2 making them both better (I hope). Turkey friends we’re here. It’s not just a Monday. It’s THE Monday. Have a great Thanksgiving Week!

Wow look at that countdown. I've been away for a few days dealing with some family medical issues, but all is well now, and everything is going in the right direction.

I can't believe that we are here at the week of Thanksgiving, and in less than a week we will also have a brand-new, shiny Thanksgiving thread here to call home once more.

I work two days this week and then am off for the rest of the week. I won't have that much time off from work until the week of Christmas, when I will be off an entire week.

Have a great day!
