Happy Tom Turkey Day! Tom Turkey Day and Rudolph Day on the same day is always special - it's a pretty rare occurrence on the calendar!

It's gonna be a wet one here today, but we really need the rain. I bet by the time all this is over late next week, we will have one more "jungle-style" mow, before it transitions over to just having to do leaf cleanup, and trimming, etc... But that could all change too if we get a lot more rain and decently warm days! Some years here we have mowed up until the very beginning part of November!

Have a great day!

DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 36

Happy Autumn TGIF! Today folks we move along and see that we have 62 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 36 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our next milestone set to arrive on Wednesday as the month of October Arrives. It’s Friday folks so time for our Fun Fact Friday below!

The tradition of football on Thanksgiving was started by college teams.

The tradition of football on Thanksgiving began in 1876 with a game between Yale and Princeton. The first NFL games were played on Thanksgiving in 1920 (more on that game in a minute).

Interesting. I always think about the NFL when I think of Thanksgiving. But it’s interesting that didn’t start it. I just think of the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys. That’s the 2 teams I think of when I think of Thanksgiving Day. And I remember many years ago they discussed taking the Lions off Thanksgiving because they were so bad. And most people were like no way that’s tradition. I love tradition. That is my favorite word in the English language. The best to you all today on Friday. Have a great Autumn TGIF!

A or D....depending on the weather. So far it's been an "A" for me. No rain until last night. Sunny, warm, pool weather. Last year it was a D because there were so many storms near/in our area.

I don't like that Thanksgiving and Christmas are so close together. I'd rather have Thanksgiving in late October, and Halloween in late September.

I know football games on Thanksgiving give so many people joy but I always feel a little bit bad that all those folks have to work.

Interesting! I didn't even know that football was a thing back in 1876. That's crazy to think about.

Happy Autumn Weekend! Today folks we move along and see that we have 61 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 35 days to go until November. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our next milestone set to arrive on Wednesday with the Arrival of October. It’s Saturday folks so time for the 1st half of our Quiet Weekend Period. I hope it gets off to a good start for you, my friends. I hope your weekend is good and that the weather cooperates. Friday was a beautiful day here and I think Saturday looks to be similar. Some cooler weather is ahead of us as we approach and enter October but that seems right on schedule, doesn’t it? Maybe a bit below average but we’ll see when we get there. For now, my turkey friend I hope you are enjoying your weekend. May you have a good mixture of fun and laid-back stuff. Make sure you get those errands done too and then just take the time to appreciate those little things that are important to appreciate (and even more so during The Bers). Gobble Gobble my friends and thanks for stopping by here in this chat. The best to you today and each day. Enjoy your Saturday and I hope to see you all on Sunday here in this fun thread we post each day. One step at a time. Have a great Autumn Weekend!

My brother and father LIVED for football games. At my home, the TV is off on Thanksgiving. I have an 85 inch TV so if people are curious, and they always are, I'll put the yule log and classical music via YouTube. Nobody is here in the morning and I usually just skip the parade because I'm so busy cooking. I either listen to music or play an audiobook to keep my pace up. I will say one of the most memorable Thanksgivings I've had was watching the parade live in NY City. The holidays in NYC can't be beat.
