DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 49
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 23

Happy Spooky October! Today folks we move along and see that we have 49 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 23 days to go until November. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our next milestone set to arrive in 13 days. It is the Home Stretch till November. That’s a big one. It’s Thursday folks so time for our Thanksgiving Thought Thursday below!

50 dinners from now will be Thanksgiving Dinner. You eat the next 49 days and then the 50th it will be turkey time. How’s that making you feel? I talked about this yesterday in our poll, but a 50-day segment is a very long segment however, it doesn’t feel insane to say. It’s not 250 days or 150 days. It’s just 50 now. Is it too early for my mouth to be watering thinking of turkey?

I hope everyone is enjoying their week. It’s been mostly a good one here as I am recovering slowly but surely from my bad fall last week some of you may have seen me mention. Fortunately, I think I’ll be ok in a few weeks. It could have been worse. But what could be better than Thanksgiving? Nothing. That is the ultimate to us. We all know it. We all love it. We all believe in it. We all Gobble. Have a great Spooky October!

I think its nearly impossible this far into October to not be automatically thinking towards Thanksgiving. Ironically enough, Thanksgiving came up yesterday in workplace conversation, we even talked about how many days were "left" until Thanksgiving. That comes with the territory of being in the best 4 months of the year!

Have a great day!

I'm focusing on the Halloween Season (for now)!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 48
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 22

Happy Double Digits October! Today folks we move along and see that we have 48 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 22 days to go until The Bers. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our next milestone arriving in 12 days. That will be the Home Stretch till November. It’s Friday folks so time for our Fun Fact Friday below!

  • Quick cuts: The record for the fastest time to carve a turkey is 3 minutes 19.47 seconds.
That’s a fast cut. I think it takes us like half an hour at least. Maybe we will take our time doing it. But I think 3 minutes sounds hectic. I wonder what it looks like when they are done. All over the place on the floor? Hopefully not. Turkey friends I hope you are enjoying your week. We are going to move forward here to Friday and then you know what comes after that: The Weekend. I have a 4-day weekend planned (Saturday through Tuesday). I’m looking forward to it big time. The best to you, my friends. Enjoy it. Have fun. Have a great day today and then go into your weekend in style feeling great and ready to ramp it up. Have a great Double Digits October!

I think we could see this scene detailed in the "extra features" when the Great Gobbler Gala comes to DVD / Streaming.

Wow I just said "Comes to DVD", like an "old" person. Everything is digital these days!

Gobble Gobble!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 47
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 21

Happy Spooky Weekend! Today folks we move along and see that we have 47 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 21 days to go until November. We move along in our Spooky Spring with our next milestone arriving in 11 days. It will be The Home Stretch till November. It’s Saturday folks so time for the 1st half of our Quiet Weekend Period. I hope you are all doing well and enjoying your weekend. A 4-day weekend for me as I took a little autumn break here. The weather doesn’t seem to be cooperating with my plans so I’m altering them a bit. I hope you all had a great time this week and that everything went as well as it could. I feel like I’m personally in a real transition period in my life which is kind of weird during October, but you can’t plan life out. That fall I had was a big deal to me and I’m really working on changing a few things, getting back to the things I love doing all while trying to take a breather. And of course, to fully enjoy the Halloween Season which is still one of my personal favorites. Turkey friends I hope you are doing well and enjoying your Saturday. The best to you as we begin a brand-new weekend. I hope you all are enjoying your Saturday my friends. The best to you all. Have a great Spooky Weekend!

Wow! Only three weeks until November.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 46
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 20

Happy Dozen Days Of October! Today folks we move along and see that our counts look as follows: 46 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 20 days left until November. We move along in our Awesome Autumn with our next milestone arriving in 10 days with the Home Stretch till November. It’s Sunday folks so time for the 2nd half of our Quiet Weekend Period. And I’m looking forward to it. Today was supposed to be our annual trip to the “Headless Horseman” event upstate which is a 2-hour extravaganza of a Hayride, Haunted Houses, Halloween Trail and Corn Maze but due to the weather we have switched it with next Sunday. Today we’re going to Irving’s Legend which is told by this guy who tells us the story of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. And it’s great. We’re going out to an early dinner first and it should be a fun day. I hope it will be fun as it was last year for sure. I hope everyone is enjoying their day so far and that you my turkey friends are enjoying your own version of this Halloween Season. I know some people have off Monday so if you do enjoy it. I wound up taking off Monday/Tuesday to get a little Autumn break as it’s a long stretch to get to Thanksgiving Week. Turkey friends the best to you today. Have a great Dozen Days Of October!

I'm off work tomorrow too. And agreed, it is a pretty long stretch from here to Thanksgiving, which will be the next days off for most people. I'm actually off work too on Veterans' day, which is around a month from now, provided I don't take any PTO between now and then. I don't anticipate to, but you never know.

Have a great October Sunday!

Last night, in bed, I thought how wonderful it was that the last 25 years of full-time work gave me a huge opportunity for so many days off. My father was right when he said work for a place with good benefits and plenty of time off plus a pension. We faculty had it made and we knew it. Work was rewarding and we only spent 25 hours a week on campus with 10 of those being office hours. We got vacation, paid time off, and generous sick leave. Most years, especially toward the end, I'd take Mon-Wednesday of Thanksgiving weekend off. The college was closed from noon on Wednesday until the Monday after Thanksgiving. We had three weeks paid time off at Christmas. Looking back, I'm so glad I decided to leave public accounting for teaching.

There are so many things to be thankful for and this time of year always helps me remember them. Paying it forward is so rewarding.

I took off 2 weeks from tomorrow (Monday) also!
