I'm only one week away from starting my week long October vacation. I cannot wait. We may head up to the Blue Ridge mountains for a couple days. And we'll spend a few more days at the Georgia National Fair. I love October.

I am all on board with slowing October down and enjoying each day. I am going to try to spend at least 30 minutes outside each day and devoting more time to the things I enjoy but I am especially looking forward to the Thanksgiving Final 50!

Hey I'm with you on trying to slow down October, I really am. But it's so hard! Knowing that Thanksgiving and Christmas are truly right around the corner! Crazy how time works! It has no problem crawling like a snail from late January to about April, but now that we are at "The Good Stuff" it wants to zoom away!
I think it's almost like we have too much great stuff in these 4 months lol. Maybe that's why it feels it won't slow down some?

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 54
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 30

Happy October Weekend! We are really in special weekends now folks. And we have countdowns that show it. We have 54 days remaining until Thanksgiving & 30 days to go until November. Our next milestone is in 4 days when we reach the “Final Fifty” to Thanksgiving. That’s hard to imagine. Our last Final Fifty? I miss when it was the Final Fifty to The Bers. But hey we had to get here eventually and now we’re really into one of the best months of the year. This is what we wait for. It’s about the journey yeah but the destination is a big part of it too. I’m glad we’re in October. It’s a great time of year. One of the best, to be honest. And we still have our wonderful month of Thanksgiving well in front of us. And what a sight it is to see. Isn’t it? I think it’s great if we can keep it there as long as we possibly can. That would definitely be a big help and a key for us on our journey towards it. And other than that I hope you turkey fans have good plans for this weekend. I hope you are all keeping up the autumn spirit going and enjoying this amazing time of year. It’s Halloween Season. And we all know in this thread what comes after that. So let’s stay in the Halloween Season as long as we can. Have a great October Weekend!

It seems like the older I get, the "journey" to these BERS Days seems to get more special each year. And I know exactly how you feel when all of a sudden there are no more "final 50" counts. I'm even about 1% "sad" that my beloved Halloween countdown is now down into the 20's!! The 20's!!! Thank goodness we have MMC and our special days here or I would really feel like we don't get "enough" of the holiday season(s)!

My turkey is officially in the freezer and I am relieved. The turning of the calendar to October motivated and I think I am well prepared for most of my favorite sides. I can always add something if it strikes me and it is available, but I am definitely looking forward to celebrating with a feast in a mere 54 days!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 53
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 29

Happy October Sunday! Today we look above at our 2 countdowns and see them continue to move in the right direction. Almost scarily so? Yes, that’s a bit of a pun for October. But here we go with today’s countdowns. We have 53 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 29 days to go until November. Our next milestone will happen in 3 days when we reach the “Final Fifty” to Thanksgiving. That will take place on Wednesday so be here for that or be square. And that will be another big milestone on our endless list of milestones. I hope the weather will cooperate for you this coming week. This is a great time of year for that as well normally. And we want to continue that stretch right into our beloved Thanksgiving. I always hope for a cool/chilly but sunny Thanksgiving. That’s always my hope. No rain or snow. No wind. Mild is ok. But I don’t want to be freezing cold like one year we didn’t get out of the 20s for a high. That was too cold for Thanksgiving. Now before you look up your Thanksgiving forecast thinking they will actually give you one that far in advance please remember to enjoy your Sunday and keep those thoughts in your head of November, Thanksgiving and of course, turkey. Have a great October Sunday!

Putting up the Halloween lights last night really made me realize just how CLOSE we are to everything now. My Christmas tree comes out of storage and is assembled in 22 days! And I'll be hanging CHRISTMAS LIGHTS in less than 5 weeks! All that obviously means that Turkey Day isn't far away AT ALL. Wow!

I remember having slick/icy roads for Thanksgiving at least once--late November can be tricky. Crisp and sunny weather is the ideal for sure.

Anybody remember the song, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald? I am hearing "When the skies of November turn gloomy" in my head right now

I have started looking at the extended forecasts for Winter 2021-22 online, I haven't had a chance to pick up a Farmers Almanac yet, but I am hoping for a long Fall!
