Man, I highly recommend slow cooker Thanksgiving to anyone who wants a "set it and forget it" type dinner. The turkey breast came out delicious and juicy, and the rice seasoned up with the sweetness of the cranberries and the apples was a big hit. The onions kind of cooked down to nothing, which I didn't really expect, but everything else was solid.

I'm not planning on replacing my traditional Thanksgiving meal, but I could DEFINITELY do this again for multiple Tom Turkey days in the future. However, for the next Tom Turkey Day, my wife has her heart set on making "Friendsgiving Casserole." She saw the recipe on Joanna Gaines's new cooking show.

That sounds so good...I am definitely going to have to try it.

I wouldnt mind more turkey breasts but I can only get 1 kind here Jenny-O and unless I BBQ them or smoke they have a odd taste to me. Not sure if its my area but a turkey breast is apprx 5.00 cheaper than a whole turkey.

If you have an opportunity to share the recipe or a link I would love to have it!

I've got a snippit of my "all year countdown" calendar, with the February items that are coming up. We've got some good stuff! Seeing the count to the BERS get into the 1's will be amazing. But it does seem hard to believe, with us only in February. But like I always say, the numbers don't lie!
They never lie!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 293
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 269
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 208

Happy Super TGIF! We have made it to another Friday folks. Thanks to CW for a great video post yesterday. We always appreciate his help in making our Thursdays special. Now on to the counts: 293 days till Thanksgiving, 269 days till November, and 208 days till The Bers. Our next milestone is 1 week from tomorrow and that will be the very important and fascinating 200 Day Marker to The Bers. That will be a huge one because that will lead to our first ever "1s" count here. I can't imagine that. But it will be coming true in the not too distant future. Is turkey in anyone's future here? I'm sure in your minds it is. It is in mine for sure. I am hoping we don't get much snow this weekend. We don't need anymore. I mean...I want it to melt at some point before Thanksgiving! :) Have a great Super TGIF!

As I continue to be ever presently aware of more and more countdown dates that I have missed before in the past, one jumped out at me this morning. And that is the ONE QUARTER point to Thanksgiving. We will reach that on the 25th of this month, no? I think my math is right, or at least close, lol.

TGIF!

When the Bers count gets into the "1s" I'm literally going to celebrate somehow. I don't know how yet, but there will be some type of special treat/party/something happening here.

In all honesty my wife and kids don't share my same level of excitement for holiday counts, so it'll probably just involve me driving to Buc-ee's for a burrito or something while listening to my Bers playlist.

That is right. That is a Thursday and will actually be Tom Turkey Day. But also it's 1/4. 13 weeks after Thanksgiving and 39 to go at that point. 1/4!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 292
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 268
DAYS TILL THE BERS: 207

Happy Superbowl Weekend! Well it's the weekend folks so let's get right to our 3 countdowns this morning. We have 292 days till Thanksgiving, 268 days till November, and 207 days till The Bers. Look at our next milestone only 1 week from today on a Saturday (I love Saturday Milestones) with it being the 200 Day Marker to The Bers. Think about how big next weekend will be that milestone and then the "1s" start the next day for The Bers. But let's not look ahead too much. We have Superbowl Weekend here. Now I don't know about you but I wouldn't mind a different kind of Superbowl Party than normal by having a turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, potatoes, biscuits, gravy and more. What do you all think? Should we have a true Thanksgiving Superbowl Party this weekend? That sounds like it would be fun to me. Have a great Superbowl Weekend!

We are going to be up at the in-law's house for the Super Bowl, and I'm sure more than once I will feel a "Thanksgiving" vibe because generally we don't have such a big family gathering except for Christmas and Thanksgiving, July 4th, etc... But it is gonna feel good when it happens!

I would never turn down a full Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings, but for me the Super Bowl is all about the appetizers and snacks. I love a table full of appetizers- slow cookers of cocktail meatballs and mini hot dogs, hot dips, cheese and crackers, none of them seem that great on their own, but together they are awesome!
