Last weekend we were able to participate with a Coats for Kids coat exchange. We didn't host the event but were asked to lend some hours supporting it. We got six folks to go and we learned a lot. It was some work and started a little slow but by the time the day ended (and after chasing up some loose ends in the days after) we were able to help get coats to more than 400 kids.
That was a very worthwhile effort. It took more time than we usually have but it was well worth it for the outcome. We didn't spend much on this either. We got healthy doses of donations from all over.
Today was Shop with a Cop in three rural locations in Utah and in Wyoming. These are areas that struggle for a lot of support and these were repeat events we're happy to support. Most of the sheriff departments we worked with MATCHED our donations and, of course, they gave very generously of their time. I love the enthusiasm from the kids on these events.
Over the next week most of our efforts will play out. We have had outstanding sponsor support this year and we are confident in the situations we are working with.
