Did some Christmas shopping this week. Macy’s had huge winter markdowns. Coats as low as 11.00. Can’t pass up those bargains, Yabba!

That is an awesome deal. I may have to check out our Macys .. I need a new coat for winter.

Really closing in now on the end of the first quarter of our Christmas Day count. Only FOUR days left to go. Barely over HALF A WEEK!

It remained chilly yesterday, primarily owing to the lack of sun. It was quite wet too, with off-and-on light rain.
Today should be clear all day, with a high in the low 60's and plenty of sun.
This final morning of the work week has dawned here at 45 degrees.

Another hard week at work with long days. Looks like today will be a long one too. I keep hoping "next week will be back to normal," but every week I'm disappointed. The long days started in January and haven't let up yet.

My days have been longer than usual as well; three major work projects on the go and two more in the horizon, plus working in time for caring for my husband and coordinating his care team.

Music helps me roll through it and thoughts of Christmas, but now and then I find it a bit harder to concentrate than I used to on the task at hand.

Hope it eases up a bit for you enough so you can work somewhat regular hours.

Knock on wood; I haven't been sick, but my left cheek and upper jaw is sore from some sinus trouble; likely due to all the housework; I wear a dust mask, but it doesn't always help. I'm also sleeping closer to the carpet on a spare mattress so I'm guessing the cat hair everywhere has something to do with it. Guess I have to sweep it up and vacuum this weekend. I use a straw broom first to loosen it all up because O'Malley for a so called domestic short-hair cat looses lots of fur.

I actually had to give in and take a few sinus tablets this week; I don't like it; there's something in there that makes me feel a bit restless.

Another end to another long week.

My husband called me around lunch time, I suggested he call my dad and reminded him I had a meeting. He phoned three times and I ignored him; thinking he just wanted to touch base 'cause he was bored. Turns out, he had a fall, but managed to get himself up using the long sofa table as leverage.

I have some shopping and cooking to do this weekend. Our regular laundry gal is off this weekend, so I'll take two loads in on Monday; sheets, new kitchen towels and P.J.s for my husband and another set of sheets; better get the comforters washed too.

They way I had to navigate around awkward drifts of slush, ice and crusty hills getting to and from work and a few stores was crazy. I felt like I was carrying a potluck dish gingerly to a festive gathering making sure I didn't upset the dessert. It was myself I was carrying across carefully. I felt like a Mountain Goat; then a song kicked in ...



Followed by another that made me think of all y'all.

Thank you ... just got home. But my supervisor let me know that they appreciate my long hours, and they’re going to try to get me a little extra time off when the workload allows. Although it’s been the timing of the work more so than the volume; big jobs coming in late in the afternoon that can’t wait until morning.

I’m just having my coffee and relaxing for a few minutes. My daughter and I are going to the gym in a little bit to get a workout in, they don’t open until 7:00 on the weekends. I have to make a big food shopping trip afterward. I’ll visit my parents at some point as well. That’s about it. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful weekend!

Welcome once again to another weekend pause on our journey back to Christmas.

And since it's a weekend morning, we have more time to sit back, relax with a take-out fired twinkie from the 'Pines, and really contemplate the count and our Milestone status.

First, the former:
Days to the Season: 235
Days to Christmas Day: 277

Then the latter:
The ONE QUARTER point to Christmas Day is approaching as rapidly as dry leaves before the wild hurricane.
We are now UNDER HALF A WEEK away from that marker and closing fast.
(Better fasten your sleigh belts!)

It stayed cool here again yesterday but with plenty of sun, it felt pretty good (at least when the wind wasn't blowing).
Today should see more brilliant sun and afternoon temperature readings in the low 60's.
Right now, we read 44 degrees on our thermometer device.

Good morning! What a few busy days we had! Yesterday, we had a trip to the zoo and a cookout. I'm still tired. Today, we are going to take it easy, watch ballgames, and maybe put some burgers on the grill.

We had an inch or so of snow overnight, but it's rapidly disappearing. Spring must be on the way. Weather-wise, I mean, as it's already here calendar-wise. But the blustery wind outside today doesn't seem to know it.

Good Saturday morning! Woke up at 4:30am to blowing snow. We were lucky that temperatures were high enough yesterday that it only rained all day, or else we’d be looking at big accumulations. It should all be gone by the end of the week. Since I was up so early, I got a lot of things done and it’s not even 11am. I watched some World figure skating championships, did two loads of laundry, did my brother’s income taxes and did the full kitchen clean-up. We’ll head out to grab something for lunch in a few. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Merry Saturday!

The sun is shining, but it is very cold out still.

Over the past week, 12.5 gallons of maple tree sap have been boiled down to a little less than six quarts. Overnight the amount went down about a half inch and it continues to slowly evaporate. The slow cooker is getting a good work out these past few days! It has definitely been a learning experience, but when all is said and done, there should be a quart of maple syrup.

Working on store stock and getting the basement ready should we have to seek shelter because of a tornado watch/warning. At some point, I want to take another walk outside. This morning's walk was fun, but I won't be able to go that route again as the ground will thaw out a bit more and it will be too boggy for tennis shoes. I am so over wearing boots!
