When you are sworn in as Mayor, make a decree that limits speakers to one minute!!!

Good Tuesday morning, my Christmas friends!

I had an uneventful evening yesterday. Nancy and I put up some fall decorations, then I went to my council meeting. It was uneventful, too, but one of my fellow councilmen enjoys hearing himself talk. We were there for 2 hours last night, and we only had 30 minutes worth of real business to attend to! Grrrr. Cold pizza at 9:30 pm is not my idea of supper.

And I missed the new show I've been watching, Terra Nova. Grrrr.

Oh, well. I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

I am home from USA, back in Norway - with Jetlag.
We had a great time! But times travel fast!!
Good to see the kids again though -)

It was so MUCH Halloween stuff in Chicago. Wow.
Im impressed guys. You are so lucky.
And I bought a lot Halloween stuff and lots of candy.
Hope the kids get surprised the 31th...
Because I have stasched it away... :D
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay here! Halloween is so much fun and glad you got to see it here. We even have seasonal Halloween stores that will open for the whole month of October each year.

I was finally able to get a couple of pictures to upload so if you wish to see a picture of the bear cub we saw at our house, you can look see it on my profile in the photo album.

Have a great everyone.
That is a beautiful picture! Is that your house? I am jealous of the surrounding. I get to see traffic outside my window. Ha ha! Well, at least I have a home and should be grateful! cheesy

And with this post, CAH is poster #20900. For her efforts, she receives a whiteboard and dry-erase marker to keep track of all the schedules!!

You know this is your job to keep us informed ahead of time. Don't ever forget this important info again! :point:

As always, thanks for keeping us up to date!

And with this post, Mgramsey is poster #20,700. For his efforts, he wins an antique postcard of Chimney Rock!!!!

I live on Long Island, there haven't been bears here maybe over a a 100 years very suburban - is is possible if you see them out your windows to take a picture? Or would that make them mad? Do you have to lock your garbage cans up? I think I would pass out from fright, even though I do go hiking in Bear Country in what we call Upstate (NY) I have never seen one I really don't know if I could handle it, I would be very scared but I have done the Ranger training program of safety but a controlled enviornment is one thing it actually happening is quite another...

I have a picture I uploaded from my cell phone but I haven't been able to get pictures to upload to MMC from my work computer. I can't get on MMC from home because all we have is dial-up and it is way tooo slow. DSL is not available in our area. We don't have outside trash cans because of bears and other critters. We throw our trash bags in a dumpster that we pass on our way to town.

RJD called it right for me. Methodist here!

Here too:???:

Good Monday morning, my Christmas friends!

It was BEAUTIFUL yesterday, and today is starting out the same! We went to several stores yesterday, buying fall decorations. It was so fun to look for that kind of stuff instead of groceries, toothpaste, etc. LOL

I have a city council meeting tonight. One of my last few as a councilman, then onto mayor at the beginning of the year. That seems so strange to me. I'm sure I'll get used to it, though. I'm already getting calls from some of my "constituents"; some complaining that the grass near the road in front of their house isn't cut right, or the city water tastes too "chlorine-ey". And so it begins!

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

I agree I did some of that on Saturday, I also completely decorated for Halloween it looks well just feels AWESOME!!!

Hmmm, Oh Mayor, I believe the neighbor's apple tree has more apples then mine can you please tell them they are not allowed to have more, also Mr. Mayor I think the Sun needs to shine a little more to the left please can you fix that for us!!!! HA, HA, HA crazy requests!!!

We were blessed with a great weekend. We had our first real frost this weekend and another one this morning. We saw some snow on the mountain tops Saturday morning along the TN/NC state line. Our church had Sunday service in Cades Cove, it is an old mountain village in the Great Smokey Mountains national park where some of the homes and churches have been preserved. While there, we saw a bear and her 2 cubs along with lots of deer, including 2 large bucks, and lots of turkeys. Then on the way home, we had to stop for a large male bear in the road near our house. We've seen more bear this year than I can ever remember. The older folks are even saying they can never remember seeing so many near their homes.

Have a great day everyone.

I can close my eyes and almost feel like I am there now... Ahhhh, so beautiful.

I am cooking a small Thanksgiving dinner right now. Stuffing, cranberry sauce and about to make pumpkin pie!

Yum!!!!

Not really scary as long as you use common sense and keep your distance especially with a sow and cubs. It is really neat to see them in the wild instead of caged up in a zoo.

I bet it is, what wise words too, working with our local animal shelter you would be amazed how many people try to interact with wild animals, I say no common sense, but I wonder if it is plain studipity.

And with this post, Undrtakr is poster #20,600. For his efforts, he wins a floor plan so he can decide how to put Christmas and Halloween decorations together tastefully!! If that doesn't work, then he wins one free phone call to Martha Stewart for her decorating advice so William can have it all!!!

Good Morning my Christmas friends!

Interview went well yesterday. It was close to 2 hours. Sheesh! So I will know by the end of next week if I have the job! Lets hope I do! I posted a few pictures in the Christmas Blossoms thread. Ill be taking some more soon to post! When I brought my Halloween stuff out I had to take the Christmas tree out. I wanted to put it up lol. So did William. He kept pointing at it saying "Crimis Tree Daddy!" hehe. Like Father like Son! Well back to work I go! Remember tomorrow is FRIDAY! Woo!!! Have a great day everyone.

And with this post, Mgramsey is poster #20,700. For his efforts, he wins an antique postcard of Chimney Rock!!!!
Thanks, I always enjoyed Chimney Rock.

And with this post, Brent is poster #20,500. For his efforts, he wins a good-guy award for relinquishing his part-time roll of Countdowner!!! What a guy!

Crown, did you want to do the count?! I just saw that there was something wrong with the van!

I can re-post if necessary, but it's in your hands!

UPDATE: My mom in law is out of surgery, they took 1/3 of a lobe in her lungs. They said they expect her to be back to full breathing and activity in time. Please continue to pray for her and the family. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts being sent......

Ok off to my next doctor's appointment. The first one was to get me off the BP meds and to see through the blood draw if I can go off the high cholesterol meds. I guess this surgery has done some good besides shrinking my body size. LOL!! See you all later.

I will keep your MIL in my thoughts. That is good news for you :???:

I've been working on drafting my resolution for that very thing:

  • Whereas the mayor of Bellville is a known Christmas nut, and
  • Whereas his wife reports an inability to adjust his nuttiness in any appreciable way, and
  • Whereas he's been know to have a tantrum when he doesn't get his way,
  • Therefore, we, the Mayor and Council of Bellville, do hereby decree that our fair city should hereafter be known as "The Christmas Capital of the World".
What do you think? cheesy

LOVE IT!!! Hmmm, I noticed others requesting your services as mayor. Can I add my town too!!!!

Hello Hello Hello

Gingermel - Swop you Strongbow for an elf!

Am slightly envious of you guys and the fall celebrations that you have. We don't really decorate for fall but I would love to. I may see if I can get some bits and bobs tomorrow :pumpkin:

Right I am off to print some info on the St Francis for the kids for tomorrow. I was telling my 7 year old about how he could talk to the animals and he said 'He must be one of the X-Men!' I love kids logic!!!!

I like your 7 year olds logic too - very sweet! I say you go for it, celebrate the season, I know my MIL who lives in Settle does, and she noticed two years ago another neighbor did too, now a bunch on the block do it, they even now have a little "English / Irish" Thanksgiving... I know my MIL is Irish and English so they do that for her, they do it the Sat after the US Thanksgiving, so as many people can get there, it is really cool!

That is one of the nice things about living in the Midwest - we get all four seasons and I look forward to all of them to a certain degree but I'm unusual in that Fall/Winter are my favorite seasons of the year.

I agree, same with living in the Northeast, the seasons, but I prefer late Spring/all of Summer/ and early Fall not a fan of the long Jan and Feb days.

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay here! Halloween is so much fun and glad you got to see it here. We even have seasonal Halloween stores that will open for the whole month of October each year.

That is a beautiful picture! Is that your house? I am jealous of the surrounding. I get to see traffic outside my window. Ha ha! Well, at least I have a home and should be grateful! cheesy
Thanks. Yes, that is our home. It is small but we enjoy it. It is nice to know if you hear a car, they are in your driveway.

And with this post, Meceka is poster #20,300. For her efforts, she wins an award for being poster #20,300 and for the cutest cat avatar and signature EVER!!! It will be in the form of our Gary Patterson cat calendar for 1999. It only has a few dates filled in that show all our appointments for the year!!!

Britt: I am so glad you and your DB are feeling better!!!!!

Congrats on the job!!!!!

Meceka,

Did I give you a prize for being poster #20,200? If not, then you win some crayons in fall colors to color a beautiful fall picture!!!

Good morning, Christmas family!

I hope all of you are feeling better!!!!!!!!

Another busy day planned here, but I will take it easy as I have been feeling blah of late. The sun is shining and it looks like FALL - the leaves seemed to have changed color overnight. Mid-Michigan can sure put on the color show!!!!

Have a super Merry Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning, Christmas friends. I am ready to get dinner ready for the crockpot. It is beef barley soup again, but this time I am only using shank bones and meat and not beef stew. It will be SO RICH! I hope I am caught up on all the posting prizes. If not, let me know. I would not want anyone to miss these great prizes. Just ask any of the winners!!!

Good Morning, everyone!
Hope you all are doing well!!
I need to catch up on here- between computer issues & having my sister here, it has been busy :) We have had a great time together.
Back to work today, though.
I saw so many neat Christmas decorations over the weekend at Marshalls, Ross, and Kohl's. 'Tis The Season!! So exciting! I bought a few things, but didn't go too crazy. It was difficult!
We finally have cooler temperatures! Highs in the low 70's today, and rain. Yay!
Well, just wanted to say hi. Hope you all have a fantastic day!!

:rudolph:

So far, it looks good. I hope it hangs in there!

Oh cool. I heard that the CGI dinosaurs weren't that great. I am not too much of a stickler about that kind of stuff though. I can't believe I missed it! I think I'm going to go find the past episodes on the intertubes and catch up.

Thanks for the info.

got my turkey for Thanksgiving...Laura is making the potatoes, Lindsay the buns, Lisa the vegies, Ray is just inviting his friends so they can see who can eat the most!
Having this dinner on Saturday and the family dinner on Monday.
Going to be a great holiday weekend!

Ill have to take a trip to walmart and see if they have any Christmas stuff out (more pictures for the Christmas Blossoms thread!). Still waiting on a call to see if I have the job. On a positive note, TD called me references so that's good. Well back to doing (no) work! haha! Have a Christmas-e day!
